![]() Michael and Andrew weaving some fine guitar work together, Northlake Unitarian Universalist Church in Kirkland WA.
Michael introducing the Seattle suburbs to some of his musical magic |
Sunday's agenda included a church service and an evening concert for the Northlake Unitarian Universalists in Kirkland. Our focus during the service was "The Unexpected Gift of Change", a subject with which both Andrew and I feel some kinship due to recent events. After the previous day's experience of watching the salmon on the Wenatchee, I was compelled to speak of it at the service--a good fit, given the day's topic. I also felt compelled to speak of Derek Bell, and the change he brought about in me as a guitarist seeking a different approach to Celtic music. How many other guitarists did this venerable harper and composer touch? He will be missed. After a fabulous early dinner with my old friend Jana and new friend Greg, we returned to the church for the evening concert. A tough night with lots of competing events, but the small crowd was with us all the way and the performance space was beautiful. A lot of new friends joined the Falling Mountain family this weekend. Some of Andrew's old friends also turned out for this evening, completing a really lovely evening. Michael |
