| Singer, songwriter and banjo player Randy Barrett is coordinating the 1st Annual DC Bluegrass Union Camp (and teaching banjo) in partnership with Common Ground on the Hill, July 9-13. The camp will be held at McDaniel College in Westminster, MD, and Randy will be joined by a stellar cast of fellow instructors including Tony Trischka (banjo), Tom Gray (bass), Danny Knicely and Tara Linhardt (mandolin), Ira Gitlin (guitar), Jim Wood (fiddle), and Dave Giegerich (dobro). Beginners to advanced players welcome - for more info visit the DC Bluegrass Union website. Randy has formed a new bluegrass group called Mama Tried with renowned bluegrass vocalist Dede Wyland. The itinerary includes a concert with the Claire Lynch Band at the James Lee Theater in Falls Church VA April 14th as well as a set at the Washington Folk Festival on Sat. June 2. Randy will also be performing and judging with his regular group The Barretones at the Deer Creek Fiddler's Contest in Westminster, MD on June 10.
